The vulnerability, found in Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems and already patched, involved a DHCP client. A malicious DHCP server or other entity imitating such a server on the local network could execute arbitrary commands with administrator privileges on computers connecting to it.
The problem affected systems using NetworkManager and retrieving network settings from a DHCP server. A list of vulnerable versions can be found here. Since the fix already exists, patching is recommended.
