Technical competence is not enough to create solutions that actually make your daily work easier, save time and increase satisfaction. Of course, they are necessary, but most often the key is observation and communication that allows you to define the most relevant problems, improve and create more effective work tools for you.
This is how it was created Our new reporting extension solution for Microsoft Azure Information Protection. It allows you to easily track the flow of information throughout the organization, in any time frame, and efficiently detect related fraud. It also allows you to dynamically filter data and perform so-called "scrambling down" operations; see for yourself:
Operations Management Suite vs ISCG ISR
The Log Analytics service from the Operations Management Suite was used to collect (monitor) selected data from AIP log information protection logs, including relabeling information collected from AIP-covered workstations. It allowed filtering and basic presentation of data - a range of functionality that, in theory, should be sufficient for daily work with AIP. However, practice has shown otherwise:
- labeling data stored in raw format, were difficult for business users to read
- limited speed of access to the requested data requires constant interventions by the IT department
- the problem reported by large institutions, especially in the public sector, was the period of storage of historical data - in OMS limited only to the last 2 years
- Another important issue is the lack of dedicated integration with other data sources such as, for example, directory services or HR systems (organizational structure information to facilitate analysis and support visualization).
ISCG ISR
In our solution for AIP, we use Microsoft Power BI as an advanced, visual data presentation tool, and Azure Infrastructure for:
- data collection (Services: AIP, OMS, AD)
- long-term data storage (Warehouse)
- and data transformation (ETL layer).
The Power BI report is divided into two views:
- "Information Security Report".
Allows business users to Collection of up-to-date data on processes and information flow in the organization (between offices, departments). This facilitates the initiation of all management, security and controlling activities.
ISR statistics are especially important for employees who are new to information processing. For more mature organizations, the knowledge gained from ISR reports helps them comply with GDPR and RODO requirements.
- "Investigation"
Second view Supports security departments in investigating data leaks. It gives them quick access to the full history of changes made to protected data, such as: "find out why someone downgraded a document before sending it outside the organization."
