The survey of nearly 300 participants in the Black Hat 2019 Survey focused on cybersecurity for privileged account access and privilege management, especially for service accounts. This is an area that Gartner has already druth year in a row has given top security priority. Responses were split between experts who ensure the security of systems and hackers whose goal was to break into systems and identify security weaknesses.

- Security experts and hackers are expected to close security gaps.
On what issues did they agree?
- Both hackers and security experts confirm that service accounts are attractive targets for attacks.
- Both sides agree on the best ways to protect service accounts, namely:
- Delete unnecessary service accounts
- Regular rotation of credentials
- Monitor all activities on privileged accounts to detect suspicious behavior.
