Operations Manager can monitor servers located in different server rooms with their own teams of administrators. By creating alerts can be sent to the appropriate people, provided that the alert was generated within a group of devices (objects).
It seems that since notifications (Notifications) are stored in the Management Pack with ID = Microsoft.SystemCenter.Notifications.Internal (this is a writable MP in XML format), then there is no chance to use a group found in another writable (Not Sealed) MP.
A simple experiment proved otherwise.
The GRP-GDY-Servers group was created in the writable MP Group.Test.

Then it was prepared Subscription (NS-GRP-GDY)., in which the criterion is related to the membership of objects in a given group

It turns out that such a group can be pointed to, which in itself is surprising. After all, it is known that one cannot refer from a writable MP to an object defined in another writable MP.
It looks like an exception of sorts. To ensure that this is indeed the case, all writable MPs were exported to a single directory as XML files

Now all files can be checked to see if they contain a fragment of the group name:

It turns out that only the group definition file contains the name of this group, while other writable MPs have no references to it.
The conclusion is simple: in this case there are no references between objects in writable MPs. So we are not dealing with any exception.
